When is the 2026 Chilliwack Municipal Election?
Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, 2026. Polling locations are:
- Chilliwack Heritage Park — 44140 Luckakuck Way
- Chilliwack Landing Sports Centre — 45530 Spadina Avenue
- Cultus Lake Community School — 71 Sunnyside Blvd.
- Rosedale Traditional Community School — 50850 Yale Road
- Yarrow Community School — 4595 Wilson Road
Advance voting is on Wednesday, October 7 at Chilliwack Landing Sports Centre and Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at Chilliwack Heritage Park.

Do I need to register to vote?
No. For the 2026 Chilliwack municipal election, voters will register at the voting place when they vote. There is no advance voter registration and voter cards will not be mailed out.
Bring two pieces of identification that together confirm your identity and where you live. At least one piece of ID must include your signature.
Who is eligible to vote in the Chilliwack Municipal Election?
Eligible electors must meet the following requirements:
- is or will be 18 by General Voting Day,
- is a Canadian citizen,
- has lived in B.C. for at least six months immediately before registration,
- is a resident of Chilliwack when registering, and
- is not otherwise disqualified.
How many councillors are elected in Chilliwack?
Chilliwack City Council consists of a Mayor and six Councillors. The Mayor and Councillors serve four-year terms.
How much can I donate to a candidate?
For the 2026 municipal election, an eligible individual may contribute up to $1,429.70 to a candidate’s campaign.
Contributors must be residents of British Columbia and either Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Contributions must be made using the contributor’s own money or property. Corporations, unions and other organizations are not permitted to make campaign contributions.
How much can candidates spend on their campaign?
For the 2026 Chilliwack municipal election, a candidate running for City Council may incur up to $40,403.08 in election expenses during the campaign period. Candidate expense limits are established for each election area and published by Elections BC.
Can businesses or organizations donate to a campaign?
No. Under BC’s Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, only individual Canadian citizens and permanent residents may make campaign contributions. Corporations, unions, and organizations are prohibited from donating.
What is the difference between a Mayor and a City Councillor?
The Mayor chairs council meetings, represents the city officially, and has specific powers under the Community Charter. Councillors vote on bylaws, budgets, and policies alongside the Mayor. Each councillor has an equal vote — the Mayor does not have a veto or extra voting power.
